Norwich 1 Coventry 2 : Match Report

Victory away at Norwich - Coventry's first league win there for 20 years - means Coventry City remained unbeaten throughout February, and will surely see Chris Coleman named 'Manager Of The Month'.

Dann, Bell, and Beuzelin replaced Turner, Eastwood, and Doyle in the starting line-up, as Coventry continued their search for points to aid their climb up the table - which, despite taking 10 points from the last 12, has still seen them only jump a couple of places!

Gunnarsson saw an early effort go just wide of Marshall's post, and soon after a Bell header from Henderson's free kick just missed the target. With 20 minutes played, good battling by Best saw the ball end up with Bell (Whose every touch was greeted with boos from the home supporters) on the left, and his cross into the penalty area saw Best duck, and allow Henderson score his first professional goal!

Four minutes of injury time were played following injuries to Morrison, Doherty, Shackell, Cureton, and Gunnarsson, during the first half.

Coventry supporters probably knew it was going to be their day five minutes into the second half when slack defending saw Jamie Cureton - playing his 100th match for Norwich - totally free five yards from goal, only for him to totally miss his kick (Cureton managed only five goals in the 2004/5 season, with three of them coming against Coventry City!).

Norwich equalised soon after when Clingan's corner was palmed away by Westwood, and with somebody attempting an overhead kick in the area and seeming to catch Gunnarsson's head, and the referee seeing no offence, Grounds fired in his third goal for the club.

With 73 minutes played, Dan Fox increased his potential value in the transfer market with yet another top quality goal (Almost as hard as trying to make a late bid for a play-off place (Or automatic promotion!) will be trying to hold onto him over the summer!). Staying up for a corner he had taken a minute before, he won the ball on the edge of the area, turned Cort three times, then sent a superb curled shot past Marshall in the Norwich goal.

Before and after Fox's stunner, Norwich were denied three average to above average penalty shouts: the first when Wright seemed to handle a cross to deny Cort the chance of a header (With the score at 1-1); the second when Wright appreared to handle again  (With the score at 2-1), and seconds later Ward appeared to handle with Westwood beaten.

Morrison had a slight off-day in front of goal (Hopefully saving himself for Chelsea!), but did manage to hit the bar late on.

Norwich's plight near the foot of the table wasn't helped by an unexpected set of results that saw all those around them in the table pick up at least a point, with Charlton and Blackpool picking up decent away points at Swansea and Bristol City respectively, and wins for Barnsley (At home to QPR), Nottingham Forest (Away to Reading), Plymouth (Away to Wolves), and Southampton (At home to Cardiff).

At this moment in time, such results are irrelevant to Coventry City, as they're finally looking up the table, rather than down....
