And so the unlikely push for the play-offs continues!

A dozen first half chances were missed by the home side (With the improving Aron Gunnarsson managing three efforts, while Baker's crosses alone could and should have ended the game as a contest before the half-time whistle went), yet there was very little by way of moaning in the malls at half-time, because for once, supporters actually believed that the second half would bring about victory!

Leon Barnett had an indifferent start to the second half, avoiding giving away what some thought was a penalty for the away side (50-50, in my humble opinion), before being booked for a foul minutes later.

Ten minutes into the second half loan signing Jon Stead scored his first goal for the club, smashing a low drive through a crowded penalty area, and beating a probably unsighted Joe Murphy (Who did try to claim the effort was offside, with three Coventry City players closing in for any spill).

Leon Barnett's poor touch, where he should have just cleared the ball but fluffed whatever he was trying to do, saw Hooper threaten to get past him, and the two fell to the floor. Barnett was given a second yellow card, and (Rather obviously) a red card - his second in two games (A feat recently also achieved by Kevin Kyle).

Hooper took the spot-kick, but saw his effort excellently saved by Westwood, with the rebound going agonisingly close to the far post. Westwood's delight was plain to see! (Cranie moved into the centre of defence, with McIndoe dropping to left-back, following the dismissal).

Previously, going one-goal up, even with eleven men on the pitch, would have seen Coventry City revert to 'what we have we hold' mode. But, with confidence high, and despite being reduced to ten men, they continued to attack, and their efforts were rewarded with another superb effort to add to Sammy Clingan's collection.

McCann did pull a goal back for the visitors late on, and Scunthorpe did have the ball in the net again in injury time, though the effort was rightly disallowed, as Coventry City held on for another victory at the Ricoh.
