One quality win, one undeserved defeat....

Ben Turner's third goal of the season on the stroke of half-time saw Coventry City finally record an away victory, and finally beat Bristol City at Ashton Gate. Clive Platt had scored the opener for the away side in the 21st minute (His second goal of the season), before Elliott equalised on 41 minutes.

Those supporters that made the journey deserved to watch Coventry City win, backing their team superbly throughout, and for once seeing the side compete for an entire match. Adomah did hit the bar just before the hour-mark for the home side, but Bristol City made it four home games without a win for the season.

v Preston (h) L1-2

After Coventry City had controlled the first thirty-five minutes of this fixture, the all to predictable sucker punch saw Preston take the lead, then increase that lead in injury time at the end of the first half with a quality strike from Hume. Gunnarsson pulled a goal back for the home side on the hour, and was substituted seconds later, but a quality display from Lonergan saw Preston end a run of four defeats in a row.

Carl Baker made a very impressive contribution to the start of this fixture (But was substituted just over five minutes into the second half for Marlon King), while Jutkiewicz also showed a couple of moments of class, twice testing Lonergan. And, had luck been on his side, Ben Turner could have made it four, five, and six goals for the season, with his efforts including one Berbatov-esque bicycle kick, which fell agonisingly wide of the post.

Marlon King made his long awaited debut, and was given the sort of ovation he could probably have only dreamt of getting .... which was apparently all to much for one supporter, who walked out (King's served his time, but it's obviously not enough for some people). He showed a few neat touches, and was unlucky not to mark his debut with a goal, as his closest effort seemed to strike Jones on the arm on the goal-line (For 'seemed', write 'did').

Statisticians worked out that due to PNE's time-wasting tactics, the ball was actually only in play for 23 minutes of this fixture....
