Coventry 1 Ipswich 1 - Robbed Again....

Yet another Coventry City game that's result was decided by absolute garbage match officials.
Ipswich had recently managed only one victory in eight matches, including losing six league games in succession, and they would have lost this one too had the referee not: disgracefully sent Marlon King off (For a challenge he at first deemed okay, as did the linesman, who, only yards away from the incident, did not flag for); not disallowed a Coventry City goal where only players not interfering with play were offside (Learn the rules, numpty!); and not awarding a penalty when Jutkiewicz was clearly fouled inside the penalty area.
As for the match itself, King had an effort from a corner headed off the line in the first half, before a spell of poor Coventry play saw Edwards smash an effort off the underside of the bar, then Ipswich took the lead through Fallon on 42 minutes.
Minutes into the second half, a Westwood punt down-field saw King control well before passing to Eastwood, who drilled home from the edge of the area. King's dismissal followed, before Jason Scotland wasn't sent off for exactly the same offence. The out of form Clive Platt was sent on for the last fifteen minutes, and showed he is a far better option coming on from the bench, winning just about everything until the final whistle went.
Cranie replaced MOTM Eastwood with minutes remaining - a substitution that seemed to baffle most supporters wearing Sky Blue....
Following three successive defeats, this draw at least stopped the rot, but, there are a number of reasons why crowds are so poor at the Ricoh (This match seeing a mere 14,412 fans going through the turnstiles, despite the 'six for £60' offer), being resigned to referees and linesmen affecting the outcome should not be one of them.
TEAM: Westwood, Keogh, Wood, McPake, Cameron, Bell (Platt 68), Carsley, Doyle, Eastwood (Cranie 88), King (SO 59), Jutkiewicz. SNU: Ireland, O’Halloran, Baker, O’Donovan, Thomas.
