The Transfer Window Has Closed....

....and somebody at the Ricoh obviously forgot to unlock ours before it did - the window marked 'entrance', anyway.

The (Sort of) positive, once 11pm on Monday arrived, was that Kieran Westwood was still a Coventry City player. The negative is that I have more chance of winning the Euro Lottery jackpot on Friday than there is of KW staying on past the summer - meaning a (Usually) class act (See Goal 1 versus Nottingham Forest for 'against' argument) will be moving on for nothing. And Coventry City will be down to one decent player (Marlon King) .... who is out-of-contract in the summer, and who will more than likely be moving on too .... unless there really is such a thing as loyalty (With Aidy Boothroyd taking a chance on a player most clubs would not touch). 

Connor Thomas, who after one-and-a-bit displays for the first team, was a shock 'deadline day' loan signing for Liverpool (With a view to a permanent move in the summer). It was mentioned somewhere that his signing went almost un-noticed by the tabloids, who seemed to focus on the £50 million sale of somebody called Torres, and the £35 million signing of somebody from Newcastle (Identity so far unknown). 

It has been revealed that said transfer was done without the knowledge of manager Aidy Boothroyd (Who earned a fair amount of criticism for playing Thomas versus Birmingham), and has upset some supporters who have already decided CT was the future of Coventry City (Just as Sheridan, Boland, and O'Toole were?). A mere seventeen years of age, and six foot twenty already, if he keeps growing at his current rate, he'll make Peter Crouch look like Ronnie Corbett within three years.... 

Another great hope for the future, Jermaine Grandison, moved to Shrewsbury for a nominal fee, while, other negatives of transfer deadline day (As well as the lack of players coming in), was the failure to get Michael McIndoe and Roy O'Donovan (Who clearly isn't going to be a big success in his second spell with the club) off the wage bill. Clive Platt was also rumoured to be on his way to Leicester, but, as of yet, this (Mainly) crowd pleaser of a deal has not materialised. Every cloud .... has another cloud behind it.
