Ricoh Rail Link Not Given Red Light Yet....

The Ricoh Arena rail link, on the Coventry to Nuneaton line, has apparently been given the 'amber light' by the government.

The station, which should have been up and running, and fully operational, before the Arena doors were even opened to (Some sort of) football, still won't be ready in time for the 2012 Olympic football matches though.

Knowing the rail link was in doubt, Coventry City should have kept the keys to Highfield Road (All those years ago) and said they were staying there until something seen as a necessity to an out-of-town stadium, was built.

Failure to ensure the station is ready for the twelve Olympic fixtures taking place at the Ricoh in 2012 is equally as stupid a decision as saying 75% of Coventry City supporters need to get to matches on 'green' transport, then not actually giving supporters anywhere near that amount (Thanks Tony Blair, and your failure of a government). 

Also worth noting, an 'amber light' is probably as worthwhile a comment to make as Aidy Boothroyd stating: 'the lads have looked good in training all week', which then usually results in the same players being turned over at the weekend - i.e., it means next to nothing.

The campaign to bring a station to the Ricoh is currently going under the acronym 'NUCKLE', though 'NeGoToFuHa' would probably be more apt....
