Oh Almost Happy Day....

Hot-on-the-heels of Coventry City celebrating almost getting to a Wembley Cup Final thirty years ago, the club are also considering the following....

A celebration of offering Brian Clough the manager's job at Coventry City in April 1972, and the great man considering the position, until opting to stay where he was. What might have been, eh? First Division champions, and conquerors of Europe too .... maybe. It was actually raining the day we would have had our open-top bus tour of the City, so it was for the best he turned us down anyway.

A celebration of the goal Juan Sara 'almost' scored with his first touch as a Coventry City player, when he 'nearly' enjoyed a dream debut - a goal which surely would have made him a hero to the supporters at Highfield Road (And earned him a multi-million pound move elsewhere). To those of you lucky enough to have know idea who I'm on about: he didn't, he wasn't (Obviously).

A re-enactment of the 2007/8 FA Cup 3rd Round draw, where this time Coventry City are at home, and draw Aston Villa's ball out of the glass bowl. Said fixture would surely have seen the Ricoh filled, and the Sky Blues reaching another FA Cup final .... had they won every game they were involved in until the tournament finished. A truly great day! Well, it would have been....

A celebration of 17-year-old (Then 18-year-old, obviously) Connor Thomas's first complete season in a Sky Blue shirt. Forced into starting the 2011/12 season due to the club accidentally selling off every other midfield player, Thomas proves that old adage: 'if you're good enough you're old enough', as he leads Coventry City to the Championship title, and a place back in the Premiership .... oh.

More 'this is actually as close as we got' celebrations to follow, until enough people give a s**t about Coventry City to make them a worthwhile name in football, and the club write some real history.

Oh Almost Happy Day....
