Hull Inflict Ninth Home Defeat On Gutless Coventry Side

Despite stating there would be an improvement after the Bristol City debacle, it seems that this was for the Doncaster game only, as the opinion of a fair few was that the display versus Hull was even worse than last weekend.

The eleven strangers in Sky Blue gave supporters very little to get excited about, with the highlight of the first half being the chicken curry pie somebody kindly bought me. Sadly, the most enjoyable part of the current Coventry City matchday experience is meeting an array of different friends between 2.30 and 3pm.

Despite having two left-backs on the bench, Boothroyd opted to play a central defender (Wood) at left-back, and didn't bother changing the back four even after Cameron picked up a knock early on, which might have contributed to Hull's winner.

The only goal of the game came after 32 minutes, with a hoof from Hull keeper Brad Guzan not dealt with by the Coventry defence, and Fryatt's header was finished with ease by the slightly chunky looking former Peterboro striker McLean.

The home side were booed off when the half-time whistle was blown, and even those that think supporters shouldn't do this must have been tempted, as the first 45 minutes was gutless.

After 54 minutes, supporters were finally given a reason to wake up, and for five minutes Coventry City actually looked as if they knew what they were doing. There were a few goal-mouth scrambles, and one or three efforts cleared off the Hull line. Sadly, it didn't last.

Westwood made a couple of 'certain goal' saves in this match (One very late on from Fryatt, as Coventry looked for an equaliser), and also had one of the few Coventry City efforts on goal in the 78th minute.

Hussey finally replaced Cameron on 83 minutes, and, according to those still awake enough to spot such things, passed a note to Gunnarsson, who then passed it to Wood. Rumours that it said 'any idea how to manage a football team' have not yet been proved....

Cranie added his name to the injury list as he limped off to be replaced by Clarke late on, while a Gunnarsson cross in injury time should have been converted, but there were no Coventry City players close enough to steal a point.
