Petty Boothroyd?

In a season low on high points, it seems the display of Michael Quirke on Tuesday - a positive to most - and the subsequent praise he has received since, has slightly 'miffed' Aidy Boothroyd!

Sarcastic quotes when speaking about the young keeper include: "But then Michael might be doing his own press conference because he’s done that many interviews since he made that save", and "I think he’s going to be on Parkinson and Wogan as well and he’s got an open-top bus ride round the city centre". Silly man.

Aidy Boothroyd said he would have no qualms about playing Quirke again, though this is probably more down to funds rather than the fact Quirke did himself proud on his full debut (Which he did - hats off to you sire!). Quirke has now played for Coventry City twice (Coming on as a substitute versus Watford earlier in the season), and both matches have ended in a draw.

On Friday, Quirke received an Under-21 call-up for the Republic Of Ireland fixture versus Portugal on March 25th.

"If you're a goalkeeper you don't want to come and play for us" - Aidy Boothroyd.
