Thorn States Case For Coventry Manager's Job

I am always interested to see people step out of the shadows when they are promoted from within to replace those they have previously worked for. On the evidence of last night, it seems Andy Thorn and Steve Harrison were not fans of Aidy Boothroyd's preferred style of play!

The temporary management team opted to do something versus Burnley last night that the previous manager didn't bother doing often enough, playing to the team's strengths! It's a radical idea, but it might just work.... 

Doing so almost saw Coventry City win a game they had gone behind in, for the first time in over 40 matches (Had Gunnarsson got anything at all on a quality cross late on, they would have), and the side almost scored three goals for only the second time this season. 

Admittedly, in the same way that the saying 'if my auntie had knackers she would be my uncle' means 'it never happened', they came as close in one game as the previous manager managed for most of his time in charge. 

Thorn and Harrison opted to play a 4-3-3 system, playing the ball to feet (Meaning there were no players being treated for neck problems at the training ground today), and probably saw as much quality football from a Coventry City side in one game than Aidy Boothroyd managed in his entire stint at the club. 

As well as his side impressing on the pitch, Thorn seemed to say all the right things in the after-match press conference too, including: 'I’m an employee of the club, I love the club and so it was an honour and a privilege [to be in charge]'. 

Thorn also said of his Coventry City side's impressive display: 'That’s the style [of football] I want to play .... It’s an entertainment business, that’s what people pay to see.' And there wasn't a 'we're a work in progress' comment anywhere to be found! 

So far, so good....
