Coventry Release Five .... Or Four

Lee Carsley, Stephen O'Halloran, Michael McIndoe, Isaac Osbourne and Michael Quirke have been deemed surplus to requirements by Coventry City. Roy O'Donovan hasn't .... yet.

Lee Carsley came back to the club last summer, on a one-year contract, claiming he had 'unfinished business' with Coventry City - it seems said business will now remain unfinished, unless continuing to be 'average at best' was the aim. Managed twenty-five appearances this time around, scoring no goals (Having played 51 times, plus one as a substitute, scoring five times, in his previous stint at the club). 

Stephen O'Halloran joined the club last summer, having been injured for a fair while at Aston Villa, and spent the first six months of his time at Coventry City on the treatment table - Surprise! (Not). When he did finally make it onto the pitch, he was fairly awesome for the first sixty minutes for the club, then it was fairly much downhill all the way after that (As, for example, on his debut, he went on a one man mission to try and get Crystal Palace through to the next round of the FA Cup).  

Michael McIndoe came to the club, costing the club between £300,000 and £500,000 (Depending on where you get your info from), claiming: 'I hope I can bring an additional bit of flair and pace and help the lads in terms of improving on last seasons finish.' With that in mind, EPIC FAIL. He also claimed, on joining the club: 'There aren't any big games in the Championship' - possibly a shame he didn't say this before we signed him. Said player always seemed to play well against us (Ripping us a new one on more than one occasion), but rarely excelled playing for us (For 'rarely' read 'probably never'). According to one fairly reputable soccer website, MM started 42 times for the club (Plus made eight substitute appearances), scoring one whole goal. He will be missed .... by the opposition.  

Isaac Osbourne has been missing from Coventry City for so long that the FA are allegedly trying to work out if he and Isaiah Osbourne (Supposedly of Aston Villa) are actually the same person, trying to claim two lots of wages. Isaac started his Coventry City career in the centre of midfield, but spent so much time playing everywhere else, that it is (Once again) alleged that he cannot remember what he is supposed to do when called upon to play in the centre (Which actually happens about as often as my lottery numbers come up). Had every shot in his CCFC career in one match, away at Millwall (A good few years back), while Gary MacAllister was in charge - approximately twenty-seven bosses ago. Over 100 games played for Coventry City, no goals. 

Michael Quirke has bizarrely been released by Coventry City, despite managing to keep Coventry City to four draws in four appearances - this being 'because of', not 'despite' Quirke playing, as he made some top quality saves. The best/only reason anybody can come up with is that he is to short - so was Ipswich's Paul Cooper, who was only kept out of the England team (All those years ago) by Ray Clemence and Peter Shilton. Good luck to him.... 

Also worth knowing: Roy O'Donovan, who has another year left on his contract, will be staying at the club unless an offer is made for him. Roy O'Donovan will be staying with Coventry City for another season. Roy O'Donovan's contribution to last season was: a whole minute versus Barnsley at home; eight minutes away ay Crystal Palace; twenty-five minutes versus Palace in the FA Cup, and the entire shambolic defeat that was Morecambe in the League Cup. Unsurprisingly, no goals scored. Here's hoping Marlon King is properly replaced....
