Coventry Lose, The Fat Lady Is Singing....

Coventry City's Championship place is now in need of a small miracle if they are to survive....

A fairly shapeless first quarter of this match saw Coventry City force three corners in quick succession around the 19 minute mark, all of which came to nothing.

There were some nice passing moves from the away side, though invariably they ended up closer to their own goal before the move eventually broke down (Usually thanks to a wayward pass).

A Kilkenny effort on 28 minutes sailed just over the angle of post and crossbar, with Murphy rarely troubled in the first half.

On 29 minutes Clive Platt was finely given a decision in his favour after months of waiting, winning a free-kick just inside the Bristol City half. Sadly it came to nothing.

A superb headed goal on 32 minutes gave Coventry CIty the lead, with Stead managing to beat his own keeper from the edge of the penalty area!

The away side blew a decent chance to double their lead on 36 minutes after McDonald stole the ball just before the half-way line, then failed to make the most of only having one defender to beat. Poor control from Clarke when the ball ran to him also didn't help.

A blatant Pitman dive on 44 minutes was rightly ignored by the referee, with Keogh letting the Bristol City player know exactly what he thought of said antics.

Bristol City, according to commentary, had not gone on to win any game where they've been behind at half-time (Fourteen times this season) - sadly for Sky Blues supporters, we are the team that sides tend to end such records against.

A mere one minute into the second half, and Coventry City's defensive frailties came to the fore once more, with Stead equalising for the home side from a corner.

A non-descript next fifteen minutes followed, before another Bristol City corner saw the ball end up in Coventry City's net, though the effort was disallowed for a foul on Murphy by Stead.

Hussey was replaced by Christie on 65 minutes, while a Clarke cross on 67 minutes finally saw a Coventry City effort (Almost) on goal, with Platt heading just wide.

Nimely replaced McDonald on 78 minutes, leaving Coventry City's chances of staying in the Championship in the hands (At the feet) of two of the most goal-shy strikers in the country: Platt, and the afore-mentioned Nimely.

Bristol City brought on Bolasie, and within seconds the substitute had made the score 2-1 to the home side.

Brett Pitman was sent off four minutes from time after a studs-up horror challenge on Clarke. Bristol City's manager whined from the touchline, but the reality is, Clarke was lucky to not end up with a broken leg.

Nimely's cross saw Platt fail to equalise with one minute left, while a decent Platt chest pass was cleared by the Bristol City defence.

Bristol City made it 3-1 deep into injury time, as Coventry City's second half display showed a severe lack of desire or will to win in this must-win fixture. Hello League One....
