Platt Uproots To Cobblers

Coventry City's League One promotion hopes were dealt a massive blow after goal-machine Clive 'The Tree' Platt left the club to join Northampton.

According to soccerbase, Platt scored a whopping seven goals in 47 appearances (Plus 23 as a substitute), and created equally as many chances for others - which is just one of the reasons Coventry City were relegated.

Platt hit out at his former club for not playing to his strengths during his time at the Ricoh (However many seasons it was, it seemed like longer), with the club replying that if they actually knew what they were they might have tried to.

The club have also denied supporters have been turning up at the club shop demanding a refund on their season tickets because of his departure (No refunds have so far been made for shirts with his name on the back though, with those that have done so obviously opting to cherish the memory of a Coventry City legend).

Northampton are also said to be interested in another Coventry City goal machine, Roy O'Donovan, which would make the sort of strike partnership that would be the envy of most Premier League sides.

O'Donovan has reportedly vowed to hit the target at least once in English football next season....
