Playing Catch Up : No.2

Coventry City have released eight players, a fair few of whom won't be missed....

Andy Webster : Never convinced by Webster, who usually looked better 80+ yards away from his own penalty area. Made 74 starts, plus seven substitute appearances, scoring three times (All in 2013/14). You could count decent appearances on the fingers of one hand. Goodbye. Good riddance.

Shaun Miller : Never quite given a chance by Coventry City, so I can only presume there was something wrong behind the scenes - especially as he at least seemed able to hit the target when he did make it onto the pitch. Made one start (Where he was subbed with just over an hour gone!), plus twelve as a substitute, scoring twice. We've had players with worse strike records! Goodbye.

Simeon Jackson : There were some supporters, who thought when we were linked with SJ, that it could never happen. It did, and many supporters wished it never had. Made 14 starts, plus 16 substitute appearance, scoring three times. Goodbye.

Al Bangura : Brought in by Tony Mowbray, who claimed he 'impressed in training and for the U21s', and 'improved his fitness and gives us an option we currently don't have as he is a combative midfielder', yet never even managed to replace Adam Barton! Never even really said 'hello....'

Danny Pugh : Made seven appearances, then bought a season ticket for the treatment table. Looked a decent signing when he came in, but, as per usual.... Goodbye.

Adam Barton : Made Sammy 'Sideways' Clingan look positively positive as an attacking force (Almost every pass going backwards, and never more than three yards), though did add powder-puff finishing to his reportoire in the final few games of last season. Starts, 51; sub app's, 22; (Unbelievably) scored three times (The last of them being in December 2012). Goodbye. Good riddance.

Frank Nouble : Mentored by Didier Drogba earier in his career, and sometimes it showed. On his day, too good for League One. Sadly, didn't have quite enough good days. Scored seven times, including three in three games in March, which saw Coventry City take seven points from nine - a major factor behind us staying up - and four in eight earlier in the season. Possibly worth keeping, but TM didn't ask my opinion....

Blair Turgott : Confused by this one. West Ham fans were up in arms that he was released and allowed to join Coventry City, yet not good enough for selection for Pressley and Mowbray sides! Has pace and a trick, and I personally would have kept him. Again, TM didn't ask....
