Coventry Telegraph Article Season 2015/16 : The Verdict

Coventry Telegraph 'Fanzone' contributors were asked to give their opinions on the season as a whole. Below is mine!
Sum up the season in one line.
This SHOULD have been our year....
How did City do compared to what you expected in August?
I always start full of hope, and am quickly disappointed. This season was different. Coventry City built up expectations, then built them some more, then smashed Gillingham .... then fell off the ladder.
Best signing?
Jodi Jones. Already looks like the positive player we need, despite the fact it was suggested he was one for next season, and might not get a start! I can't help thinking if he had come in sooner, Adam Armstrong would have got well over 20 goals.
Biggest disappointment of the season?
Finishing five points off the play-offs, mainly because of the poor run of results where we took four points (Including being defeated by Fleetwood, Barnsley, Rochdale, Shrewsbury) , when closer to eighteen seemed possible.
Best moment of the season?
Beating Bury 6-0. Such a great way to say goodbye to the legend that was Jimmy Hill. That was the point where our poor run of form should have ended - what followed was four dismal defeats.
Worst moment of the season?
Either FA Cup defeat to Northampton, or our home defeat against a terrible Colchester side - a Colchester side that had failed to keep a clean sheet away from home in any game up until that point, and conceded an average of almost 2.5 goals per away game. Up until that point, the 'if we can win this one, then the next one, we might just make the Top 6' line was still being trotted out. This defeat was 'game over'.
One player the club must keep?
Reice Charles-Cook. Massive potential, and can only have improved from playing 39 games last season. He needs a decent back-up keeper to make sure he isn't a shoe-in for the No. 1 position though.
Do you agree with the retained list? Who would you have liked to have kept?
I would definitely have kept Aaron Martin, and possibly Aaron Phillips. A fair few others on the 'released list' should not have been signed in the first place (Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing?!).
How do you rate the job that Mowbray is doing?
He took us to our highest finish in a while, but didn't really address the massive drop in form. The experienced players drafted in hindered the side, not helped them, in most cases. Hunt, Ramage, Henderson, and Fortune leaving can only improve the side, and the club will struggle to replace them with worse options. Note to Coventry City: please don't see this as a challenge! I would definitely stick with TM.
What position do City need to improve most over the summer?
Replacing Adam Armstrong is a tough ask. Even with his goal drought, his 20 goals were a major contributor to our eighth place finish. Only Jacob Murphy (Unplayable when he was on form, and also possibly difficult to replace adequately) properly chipped in with a decent tally of goals. More players with the ability to find the net is essential.
The club also need to improve the position of whoever decides season ticket prices! A £100 price hike for my seat, in an area that isn't particularly full anyway is ridiculous. As for the decision to refund 30% should sales reach 15,000 .... ridiculous! When was the last time we got that many?! My guess is it would have been when were in the top flight, NOT Division 3. You might as well promise a free unicorn, and a date with Marilyn Monroe.
What should be the expectations for next season?
Last season's squad should have got us a Top 6 finish, as I genuinely believe they were amongst the best in the division. As a fair few of those have been released in a bid to build a better side, a minimum of a Top 6 finish should be expected .... though history would suggest it won't happen!
Where do you think the Sky Blues will finish?
This depends on who we bring in this summer, with the first signing, Jodi Jones, setting the bar very high!
