Non News V - This Time Nine Is A Struggle.....

With worthwhile Coventry City news currently as thin as Kate Moss on a grape-a-day diet (Line stolen from CCTID Issue 18/19), apologies in advance for the blatant plugging of CCFC-Bay in a bid to pad this weeks news....

9. The 2005/6 season's fixtures are released, with Coventry City's campaign beginning against Norwich (And, by a coincidence, Norwich's begins against Coventry City) - venue as yet unknown! Having stated that any fixture/venue change was down to the opposition, and with the opposition having agreed, the decision makers say they will decide whether this is acceptable during the first week of July. Explain?

8. Rumour has it that the predicted date of Coventry City's first match at the Arena (Against QPR), August 20th, is unlikely to happen. Further rumours suggest Coventry City might be looking to play their first 23 matches of the season away from home.

6. Having struggled slightly in the goalkeeping department last season, Coventry City are said to be after Graham Stack, Shaka Hislop (Wage demands could scupper this one), Steve Harper (Yes please!), and Clayton Ince (Noooooooooooooo!!).

5. Striker turned disappointing right-sided midfield player Andy Morrell signs up for another year with Coventry City - apparently the sub's bench at the new Arena is very comfortable. Claus Jorgensen is also set to re-sign after he comes back from his holiday....

4. Steve Staunton is rumoured to be interesting Walsall, two years after he almost joined them. Their loss was our [insert word of your choice here]. Reports suggest that Paul Merson cannot guarantee him a place in Walsall's first team - if he's not good enough for a Division One side.....

2. Almost 7,000 Coventry City supporters have purchased season tickets for the forthcoming campaign - already almost as many as bothered last season. The `Early Bird' scheme has only one week left to run, so if you want your ticket at a slightly lower, but still over-priced price, best get along to Highfield Road quickly! (Remembering that cash or cheques are the only accepted methods of payment).
