Two month loan of Newcastle United defender

Gary Caldwell will join Derby County for two months whilst Rams injured defender Dave Walton recovers from injury. Caldwell should line up with his new team mates for tomorows opening league game against Stoke City

Derby County have recruited the services of Newcastle defender Gary Caldwell. The move is a two-month loan and is in response to the injury to Dave Walton in a pre-season friendly last week. Gary Caldwell is a Scottish International with five caps to his name but is finding it hard to break into the Newcastle first team. He has previously been on loan to Darlington, Hibernian and Coventry City in recent seasons. Caldwell will go straight into the Rams side to play Stoke City tomorrow (3-00pm) at Pride Park.
