Moore double in Leeds win

Leeds gave under fire manager Kevin Blackwell something to smile about with a good 3-1 victory at Elland Road, in the 2nd round of the Carling Cup.

Leeds got a great start, Robbie Blake firing home after 7 minutes after beating the offside trap. The rest of the first half was controlled by Leeds, without ever creating too many chances. Barnet looked dangerous from set pieces, but Neil Sullivan in the Leeds goal wasn't troubled.

The second half was mainly dominated by Leeds, but it could have been so different. The referee decided not to give a penalty against Sullivan, which could have seen the keeper sent off. Shortly afterwards, Leeds doubled thir lead, when Blake headed to Moore to head home from a couple of yards. It was the former Burnley strikers 1st goal for the club after an 18 month wait. It wasn't too long before he scored his second. Blake was again the architect, and Moore rifled ome from 15 yards. The third allowed the home side to relax a little, and 18 year old Jonny Howson made his debut. The academy player, fresh from signing a new contract, made an immediate impact, and nearly got himself on the scoresheet a couple of times. Late in the game, Viera scored from a corner as Barnet got a goal that their battling deserved.
At the end though, a comfortable win for Leeds who enjoyed 86% of the possesion, and they can go into Saturdays game with Birmingham with a spring in their step.
