Reids out, so who's in-a look at the front runners

With the ink barely dry on Peter Reid’s severance cheque, the list of potential managers is growing by the minute. Here we run the rule over the main candidates

 

Paul Hart - Hart is well respected at Elland Road, and was wanted for the job before Reid took over.  He has a history at Elland Road, and bought through the likes ok Kewell, Woodgate and Smith

For Hart is used to working on a tight budget, and bringing through youth – both qualities that Leeds need.  He is reportedly unhappy at Forest, which would make him more inclined to come

Against – no experience at this level.  Forest are also not setting the world on fire, sitting in 11^th in Division 1 – has never been involved in a relegation battle

 

Gordon Strachan – Strach is highly thought of at Leeds, and has cut his managerial teeth at Coventry and Southampton

For – Turned Southampton into a top ten club on a limited budget, great motivator, and loved at Leeds, has been through the relegation dogfight at Coventry

Against – would he want to jump ship at Southampton? As things are it would be a step down. 

 

Micky Adams – Adams is another name in the frame after impressing at Leicester

For – had success everywhere at Fulham, Brighton and Leicester, all promoted.  With the Foxes in administration last year, he knows how to find a bargain.

Against – another who may not want to take the risk.  First year in Premiership – never handled a big club

 

George Graham – ex boss Graham is out of work, and is linked quite strongly

For – cheap option as no compensation, great at organising a defence

Against – surely too much bad blood exists after his departure last time, dour football, and out of the game for too long-bit old school

 

Eddie Gray – Leeds favourite Eddie Gray is the man with the job at the moment, and could stay on

For-adored by the fans, no compensation needed, great at bringing on youth, liked by the players

Against – hasn’t managed for 15 years, no experience at this level, would be a big chance

 

Neil Warnock – Sheff Utd managers name has been banded about in some circles

For – great organiser at tactician – knows coach Blackwell, and work well as a team

Against – loves Sheff Utd, and has declared that he wouldn’t manage anyone after them-wouldn’t be a popular choice

 

Glenn Hoddle – Hoddle is out of work after his Spurs sacking

For-free, good tactician, lots of experience

Against – struggled at Spurs, no relegation experience, controversial methods.

 

Martin O’Neil – he has been wanted at Elland Road for a long time

For-great track record, popular figure, good tactician

Against-turned down Leeds twice, wouldn’t leave Celtic for a club in our position
