Strachan will not manage Leeds

Gordon Strachan is the latest to rule himself out of the vacant managers job at Leeds. With the club in turmoil, getting a new manager is proving a difficult task

With most of the front runners distancing themselves form the job, and Leeds having no money to pay compensation, it looks increasingly likely that the board will have to look for a manager not currently in work, or one from the lower leagues. There are not many big names out of work, but Glenn Hoddle, George Graham (although he says he doesn’t want it), Gianluca Vialli (also not interested), and Howard Wilkinson are all technically available. The other option would be to promote from within, with names such as Eddie Gray or Kevin Blackwell. We have got just over 2 months to get this resolved as Gray hasn’t as yet got the necessary qualifications to manage us, and needed special dispensation from the league to take temporary charge.
