Man City 1 Leeds 1 - report

It was a real backs to the wall effort from Leeds last night, as they withstood a fierce Man City onslaught to get a point from a 1-1 draw

The first half was fairly even, Wright-Phillips looking dangerous early on, and the Leeds back four had to be alert. Mid way in, we got a lucky break, Milners hopeful pass was mis controlled by the Man City defender, and Viduka took advantage to slot home his second goal in two games. City continued to probe, and nearly levelled, Reyna’s shot superbly cleared off the line by Duberry. The former Chelsea man had a superb game, and is beginning to show some good form. Half time came, but Man City continued after the break in the same form. Joey Barton hit a screamer from 25 yards that came off the post, and Reyna shot just wide. At the other end, Duberry’s header was cleared off the line, in a rare break for the visitors. United suffered a blow with 20 minutes left, when Radebe tore his hamstring, but continued to defend well. An equaliser had to come though, and it did in the 82nd minute, when sub Sibierski headed home. There was still time for Leeds to nearly snatch it at the death, Milner evaded his marker and was clean through, but was clearly tripped on the edge of the area – clear to all but ref Graham Barber, who waved play on. A good result in the end for Leeds who had little of the ball, but that’s four games unbeaten, with Villa up next.
