Leeds did just enough to shake off a determined Huddersfield side last night. In a game that never seemed to get going, Leeds won through Danny Pugh’s 2nd goal of the season.

Boss Kevin Blackwell made just one change from the weekend, bringing in Michael Ricketts at the expense of the injured Brian Deane. Leeds buzzed around and tried to get things going, but lacked a little bit of quality in the vital areas. The back 4 looked strong, Sullivan hardly stretched, although he was beaten by an effort that rebounded off the crossbar. The winning goal came midway through the first half. Ricketts headed from fully 18 yards in front of the South stand. The rebound fell to Pugh, and although his first shot was saved, the ball ran free for him to hit home from 4 yards. As far as the action went – that was about it, although sun Jamie Mcmaster impressed in the final 20 minutes. Mcmaster did well in pre season, and must be close to making a start. His work rate was good, and was only denied a goal by a good save. All in all, the best Leeds can say is a job well done. Blackwell will be happy as his players will have had another game to get used to each other, and kept another clean sheet. Not pretty, but effective, which, for now, is more than good enough….
