Leeds to sign Prestons Healy - at last

At last it seems like Leeds have won the battle to sign Preston’s David Healy. A fee has been agreed between the two clubs, although both are keeping quiet on the amount.

I’m led to believe it is somewhere in the £400/£450,000 mark, rising to a potential £750,000. The striker had told the board that he wanted to come to Leeds, and as we know from past experiences (Smith, Kewell etc), once a player has his heart set on a move, it inevitably happens. Preston’s hand was forced as the player would have been able to negotiate a free transfer from January 1st as his contract expires in the summer. Midfielder Don Hutchinson is another player likely to sign today, albeit on loan, as Blackwell hopes to have some new faces to freshen up the squad ahead of Sunday’s home clash with Wigan.
