Elland Road to get £1 million revamp

Ken Bates is looking at spending around a million pounds improving Elland Road during the next few months as the Chairman looks to make his mark on the West Yorkshire outfit.

Reports in tonights Evening Post say that The John Charles Stand will be most affected, with the directors box being moved to the halfway line, and more hospitality boxes installed. The East Stand will also see improvements, as will the pitch. Due to the financial troubles at Leeds, the Stadium has received no improvements for some time, and as a result additional income that the various suites and corporate packages generated has been hit. Now is the ideal time to make changes top the stadium. With crowds averaging around 30,000, there is plenty of room should sections be closed. If, come the 2006-2007 we are back in the Premiership, crowds will increase, and we will have the stadium in place already. If these improvements are not made until we go back up, the capacity would have to be capped, thus hitting income. Good move from Bates…
