Leeds agree fee with B'Ham for Blake

Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell has once again been backed by his chairman Ken Bates as he today agreed a fee with Birmingham for forward Robbie Blake.

After having an initial offer of £800K turned down last week, Leeds have reached an agreement for a fee of around £1 million. The former Bradford and Burnley player is a proven goalscorer at this level, and will be a major asset. Blake can play up front or in an attacking midfield role, and will give Blackwell more options.

In other news, Steve Stone has picked up an injury that keeps him out of the Norway tour, and may see him missing the start of the season. His place in the squad is taken by trialist George Santos. It is thought that the other trialists, including Keith Gillespie, will not be offered a contract, and will be released, although there is no official word on this…
