Portmsouth chase Sherwood

Portmsouth are been linked with Tottenham's former England midfielder Tim Sherwood.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp yesterday denied reports that he was chasing Dennis Wise and Paul Gascoigne. He did admit that he was chasing a former England international though.

It is now believed that Sherwood is the player Redkanpp is chasing.

Sherwood last month came under fire at White Hart Lane after slamming the clubs owners for not giving manager Glenn Hoddle more money also saying the current Spurs' squad was not good enough to make a serious impression on the Premiership.

Redkanpp may see Sherwood as the ideal holding player to compliment Paul Merson's creative play in the centre of midfield.
