Villa make offer for Ipswich captain

Aston Villa are rumoured to have made an offer exceeding £4million for Ipswich Town captain Matt Holland.

The talented midfielder was one of the stars of the World Cup for the Irish team.

Villa boss Graham Taylor is a big fan of Holland and now wants to add him to his squad.

Taylor is now down to just 2 fit midfielders following the sale of George Boateng and Paul Merson.

Ipswich need to sell after the proposed sale of Herman Hreidarsson to West Brom fell through. Holland has always stated that he is happy to remain at Portman Road but the lure of a top-half Premiership side could prove to much for the former West Ham trainee.
