Ipswich Town hit 6 past Leicester City, despite missing a penalty, this afternoon in an entertaining game at Portman Road.

In this afternoon's televised games George Burley's Ipswich Town were unstoppable as they demolished Leicester City and made Burley's target of 100 league goals look achieveable.

Leciester keeper Ian Walker was under attack all game and was forced to face a penalty after 23 minutes after Jon Ashton had handled in the area. Walker then went on to save the penalty from Marcus Stewart and held out for another 20 minutes.

Skipper Matt Holland made the breakthrough on 45 minutes with a cracking curling shot from 18 yards.

The Foxes grabbed an instant equaliser though through Jon Stevenson although keeper Andy Marshall should have done better.

5 minutes after the break Ipswich should have had a second penalty after Stewart was fouled in the area only for the referee to wave away appeals. Ipswich didn't have long to wait to re-gain the lead through Matt Holland via a deflection.

Teenager Darren Ambrose then made it 3 after 70 minutes with a swerving drive after good work from sub Finidi George

George then got himself on the scoresheet with 15 minutes remaining with a classy finish past Walker. The Nigerian also had a goal ruled out for offside.

With 10 minutes to go Pablo Counago grabbed two late goals to complete the rout, first from a deflected shot and secondly from a fantastic low drive into the corner of the net.
