Derby are to release defender Bjorn Otto Bragstad and Horacio Carbonari as soon as they can arrange a pay-off for the pair.

Both are not in the plan of John Gregory as the Pride Park club attempts to cut down its wage bill. Carbonari and Bragstad are seen as high-earners at the club.

Carbonari made 99 apperances for the club whilst Bragstad made only 16.

Chief executive Keith Loring told the clubs official site that they were close to a settlement. "We have agreed deals in principle with Horacio and Otto in respect of releasing them from their contracts.

"We are now talking to their representatives about the final details. We believe these deals are close to being tied up and are now concentrating on the legal niceties."
