Grimsby set to sign striker

Grimsby are set to sign striker Robert Taylor on a short-term contract following the news that Steve Livingstone is set to be out for at least 2 months.

Livingstone was involved in an horrific injury during Saturday's televised game with Derby. The former Chelsea man was knocked unconcious for 9 minutes following a reckless but accidental challange by Danny Higginbotham.

Following tests it was revealed that the big man had fractured his skull and isn't able to train for 2 months.

The need for another big man was apparant for Grimsby boss Paul Groves who moved for Taylor offering a short-term deal till Christmas.

Taylor spent a month on loan at Grimsby last season and part of the pre-season in a bid to win a contract. Despite suffering from injuries over the last couple of years, Taylor has a good pedigree in the game with big money moves to Man City and Wolves following a successful spell at Gillingham in the 90's.

Grimsby are also taking a look at former Reading midfielder Sean Evers, full-back Chris Kamara who was released by Leeds in the summer(son of TV pundit of the same name) and former Arsenal youth Jo Osei-Kuffour who was also released in the summer.
