Watford are believed to be set to offer Dennis Wise a chance to kick-start his career at Vicarage Road.

Wise was sacked by Leicester last month following the incident with Callum Davidson which resulted in Davidson fracturing his cheekbone.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redkanpp was the first manager to be linked with Wise but the link was denied by the ex-West Ham manager.

Wise looked to be heading for Crystal Palace but it is thought that chairman Simon Jordon was not keen on bringing the player to Selhurst Park. "We will be taking our interest no further", said Jordon.

Now it has emerged that Watford boss Ray Lewington is about to offer the former Chelsea captain a one-year deal. Wise will have to take a massive pay-cut to join Watford but the deal could be done in time for the Bank Holiday weekend.
