Middlesbrough's Brazilian striker Arthur Bernhardt is on trial with Grimsby Town.

The 20-year-old signed for 'Boro three years ago but has made no impression on the first team.

Grimsby boss Paul Groves is keen to bolster his front line and is hoping Bernhardt can provide extra options. It is not known if Middlesbrough are interested in loaning him out or releasing him from his contract.

Meanwhile Groves has warned that he will not push striker Darren Mansaram into action before he is ready. The 18-year-old is getting rave reviews for Grimsby's reserve teams and the fans are calling for his inclusion in the team. The club has offered the youngster a two-year deal and the striker will be in the squad for Tuesday's Worthington Cup game against Chesterfield.
