Harry wants more new faces at Portsmouth

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has stated his intentions to bring more new faces to Fratton Park after injury to striker Svetoslav Todorov in their 1-0 win over Millwall.

Redknapp has almost brought in a new team in the pre-season but still wants to bring in more despite his team sitting three points clear at the top of the table.

Todorov limped off with a knee injury after scoring the only goal and Redknapp will be keen to replace the striker, despite not knowing how long he will be out for.

"Todorov was outstanding for us and took his goal very well but he's damaged his knee and we don't know how bad it is," said the ex-Hammers boss.

"I've been saying we need to bring in more players, but it's difficult finding the right people who are available."

One player who Redknapp is keen to sign is Tottneham's out of favour midfielder Tim Sherwood, who is currently injured. "We still want to bring him here, but he's injured and we'll look at it again when he's fit.

I'm convinced that there is a deal to be done with Tim -and I'm determined to to do it".

One player who won't be joining Redknapp's South Coast title-chasers is Paulo Di Canio. Redkanpp expressed an interest in the man he signed for West Ham but was unable to afford the Italian.

"I would love him here, but I simply could not afford him.

"He's on four times as much as my highest paid player gets. I have always go well with Paulo but and people tell me he likes me.

"But I somehow don't think he would like me enough to take a 75 per cent pay cut," Redknapp joked. Redknapp then spoke about how his team have to be prepared for opposition teams rasing their game.

"Millwall played very well against us and we're going to have to get used to the fact that teams will raise their game against us because we are the leaders."
