Sheffield United striker Iffy Onura faces up to a year on the injury list with an Achilles injury.

The 35-year-old ruptured his Achilles tendon after landing awkwardly in Saturday's 1-0 win over South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham.

Onura was originally suspended for the match following a red card against Norwich but the sending-off was reduced to a yellow card by referee Phil Dowd after the game.

United boss Neil Warnock was clearly disappointed at losing his summer signing when speaking to the clubs official site.

"It's a major downer – Iffy has gone to hospital and will have an operation on Sunday.

"It was not a clash or anything, he just landed funnily and unfortunately for him he could be out for a year.

"Our thoughts are with Iffy".

At 35 Onura is in the twilight of his career and could even opt to retire after this massive blow.
