Round up of results from Tuesday 17th September 2002 as Portsmouth contine to look unstoppable and Darren Byfield returns to haunt Walsall.

Brighton 1 Stoke 2

Tommy Mooney opened the scoring his 'new' team from the spot on 16 minutes. With 15 minutes to go Andy Cooke secured the win for the visitors despite Richard Carpenter's quality goal late on.

Burnely 2 Millwall 2

Dean West took the lead Burnley after 18 mintues from the spot. The Lions fought back and David Livermore equalised. On 64 minutes Kevin Davies scored his first goal for Millwall but sub Ian Moore surged into the box to score with 5 minutes to go.

Palace 0 Derby 1

Giorgi Kinkladze converted a Lee Morris cross with 8 minutes to go to settle this dull match. Mart Poom made a last minute save from Tommy Black to secure the win.

Leicester 4 Bradford 0

Paul Dikov, Brian Deane, Matt Elliott and Jamie Scowcroft all got on the score-sheet as Bradford were pusjed aside. The Bantams created few chances with loanees Michael Proctor and Stephen Warnock the main creators.

Portsmouth 4 Wimbledon 1

Vincent Pericard gave Pompey the lead before Neil Shipperley eqaulised with just 11 minutes gone. Svat Todorov made it 2-1. Before Dons keeper emulated Peter Enckelman by allowing Mark Williams back pass to roll under his foot and into the goal. Williams completed his misery by getting sent off. Matt Taylor made it four.

Preston 1 Watford 1

Richard Cresswell proved himself as Preston's saviour once again, equalising in the 72nd minute after Paul Robinson had given Watford a first half lead.

Sheff Utd 2 Grimsby 1 Wayne Allison and Michael Tonge broke the Mariners hearts with two late goals after Paul Robinson had given them the lead in the 8th minute. United now move up to 3rd in the table.

Walsall 3 Rotherham 4Former Saddler Darren Byfield returned to his old stomping ground and scored twice, his first goals since opening day when he scored 4 against Millwall. Alan Lee also scored as Rotherham raced ahead. A David Zdrilic brace and a Jorge Leitao goal made the game all square but Lee got his second from the penalty spot to make it another win for Ronnie Moore's men.
