Millwall sign Wise

Sacked Leicester player Dennis Wise is set to sign for Milwall next week.

Wise was finally sacked by Leicester after a Football League hearing allowed the dismissal following an incident on the pre-season of Finland which left Callum Davidson with a fractured cheek-bone.

It was thought that Wise would move to Watford, where he had been training but Hornets boss Ray Lewington said it would only happen if Wise played for free.

Now Wise will sign for Millwall next week, however Wise's agent Eric Hall claims that his client is waiting to see if any better offers come along. Sacked Leicester player Dennis Wise will sign for Milwall next week, he told BBC Online.

Millwall chairman Theo Paphitis admitted that he had to think about Wise's sacking before agreeing to sign him. "When a player ends up being sacked, or any employee ends up being sacked by another employer, you've got to look at that very seriously.

"It is no different in football than in any other walk of life - but that doesn't mean that person should not work again.

"I've known Dennis for a number of years and we are confident he can kick-start his career at Millwall."

Manager Mark McGhee is delighted with his capture. "He will be coming to sign for us on Tuesday and we're delighted that a player like Dennis will be joining us.

"We have been on the case over the last two weeks but with his appeal going on we've had to wait.

"As soon as we knew the result we met with Dennis straight away.

"I'm sure the supporters will be looking forward to seeing Dennis in a Millwall shirt.

"With the players that we have missing I think it is a massive signing.

"I think it is a bargain - Dennis is a quality player."
