Watford appeal to fans

Watford chairman Graham Simpson has made an adacious appeal to the fans in an effort to ease the clubs financial worries.

Simpson has appealed to the 32,000 who watched Watford win the play-offs at Wembley in 1999 to donate £50 to the club.

"I'm hoping the general public of Watford will dip their hands in their pockets," said Simpson.

"I was at the play-off final in 1999 - one of the greatest days of my life. We had 32,000 there that day.

"I would ask all of those 32,000 to donate £50 for the good of the club. If that happened it would make a difference.

The appeal is unlikely to attract many donations. In this day in age, fans have to save and save just to buy a ticket. Then there's the cost of replica shirts and merchandise which increase every year.
