Harry Redknapp's first match in charge of Portsmoth wasn't a happy one as they fell to a 2-0 defeat away at Deepdale, Preston. Winjard and Alexander on the score sheet for Preston. Birmingham thrashed Grimsby in a 4-0 with two goals either half. West bram kept their chase alive for second place as they won against Barnsley, 3-1, Jordao and Dichio get a goal with Benjamin getting a goal on his debut for WBA. Barnard got a consolation goal when Barnsley were 3-0 down. Wolves though denied West brom second place as they carried on their brilliant form by beating Burnley 3-2. Sturridge(2) and Cameron got Wolves a 3 goal advantage going into the second half but it ended up being a nervy end when Moore and Johnson pulled it back to 3-2 with 5 minutes to go. Walsall fell to a last gasp goal as their relegation fears were put back on. They drew 1-1 with Gillingham and after holding on to a 1 goal lead through Herivelto for 55 minutes Gillingham equalised through Saunders. Crewe and Sheff Utd drew 2-2, Sheff Utd took the lead on the 40th minute through D'Jaffo and as Sheff Utd were looking forward to going in at half time 1-0 up Crewe hit back through Hulse and Foster and Sheff Utd went in behind, Sheff Utd though pulled it back to 2-2 when Doane fired home with 10 minutes to go. Man City are now 4 points from securing a place in the Premiership next season when they/Huckerby brushed aside Notts Forest, Huckerby scoring a hat-trik. Millwall also look back on track with a easy win over Stockport, it took Dublin 12 minutes to get off the mark for his new club Nethercott and Ifill made it 3-0 in the last 10 minutes. Norwich still have a sniff of the play-offs after their 2-1 win over Palace Nielsen and McVeigh made it 2-0 to norwich in the last 3 minutes of the first half and despite Morrisons second half goal Norwich held on for 3 points. Wimbledon fans will have to be real optimistic if they think they can make a late dash for the players but the 1-0 win over Rotherham has certainly helped. Morgan the goalscorer. |
