Stoke striker on comeback trail

Stoke City striker Chris Greenacre has taken part in his first training session since joining the club in the summer.

Greenacre arrived at The Brittainia Stadium on a Bosman free-tranfer from Mansfield but a lengthy ankle injury has prevented him from increasing his reputation as a goalscorer.

On Monday the ex-Man City man trained with the Academy players to increase his fitness. Now Greenacre is targeting a few reserve games before regaining his full fitness.

"It's good to be back out and in the fresh air again after all that time in the gym and treatment room," said Greenacre.

"I've been out for over two months now and it's been very frustrating because I'm not a good spectator.

"I've been doing lots of strengthening work and although it's a bit swollen and I'll have to play with strapping the ankle feels okay.

"Hopefully I can train with the first-team squad when they return and get in a couple of games with the reserves and take it from there."
