Confusion over Moore

Rotherham have issued a statement saying that they have refused Ipswich permission to speak to Ronnie Moore. Ipswich however deny that they have made an approach regarding Moore.

Moore is the hot favourite to take over at Ipswich and it is widely thought that the Saturday afternoon draw with Gillingham would be Moore's last game in charge of The Millers.

The Rotherham statment read:"Rotherham United FC confirms that Ipswich has made an official approach to speak to our manager Ronnie Moore.

"We do not welcome this approach and have refused them permission to speak to him.

"Ronnie has almost three years left on his contract to run and we expect him to fulfil that and continue the excellent job he is doing at Millmoor.

"Ronnie has a special relationship with our supporters and I am sure that they along with the chairman and the board of directors hope that this is the end of continued speculation."

Ipswich then confused the situation by claiming they have made no contact with Rotherham in a statment of their own: "We have made no contact or approach to Rotherham at all."

Moore has however stated that he wants the Ipswich job, claming that he has taken Rotherham as far as he can. He also mentioned that he has never seen a sell out at his time with The Millers - a possible suggestion that he wants to manager a bigger and more successful club.
