Reading continued to shock people by winning there eighth game in nine , another 1-0 for the Royals was sorted when a early John Salako got all three pionts for Reading , Bobby Zamora was mostly a passenger all game but nearly got Brighton level by flashing a header just wide of the goal.

Coventry 1 Preston 2

Preston continued there steady climb up the table with a fine win at Highfield Road which left the hosts plumpeting towards the bottom of the table , an early goal set the tone for Preston with Cresswell scoring on 8 minutes , Coventry thought they had rescued it on 80 minutes from Calum Davenport but Eddie Lewis broke the hearts of Sky Blues fans by winning the game on 88.

Gillingham 1 Stoke 1

Stoke manager Tony Pulis breathed a sigh of relief when his Stoke side grabbed his first piont as manager , the first half was really a none event but after the break Gillingham went in front from Paul Shaw when he hit a sweet shot into the net from the edge of the area , but four minutes later Stoke hit a beauty to level up from a Clive Clarke 25 yard free kick.

Grimsby 1 Leicester 2

Leicester got over there little hiccup of last week by winning at Blundell Park today , A very early James Scowcroft goal was cancelled out by John Oster in the second half but a fantastic over head kick which has surely got to be goal of the season from Muzzy Izzet , it was a fine goal to win any game. Frank Sinclair marred the game by getting sent off five minutes before half time.

Millwall 1 Bradford 0

As if Bradford's season couldn't get any worse it did at The New Den today , not only did they have Wayne Jacob sent of for two yellows they conceded a 82nd minute goal from Neil Harris , a ball whipped into the box was fumbled by the keeper plum onto Harris's chest .

Norwich 1 Derby 0

A late late Malky Mackay header in the very last minute compounded Derby's misery , Norwich with one of the country's best home records thought the chances of keeping up with the Joneses was fading but the versitile defender popped up and won the 3 pionts for the Canaries.

Nottm Forest 2 Ipswich 1

Ipswich' recent improvement was ended as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat against 10 man Nottingham Forest. Former Town striker David Johnson bagged both goals for the home side while a Gareth Williams OG gave the visitors some hope. David Prutton was sent off for Forest after picking up 2 yellow cards.

Portsmouth 3 Walsall 2

Two Danny Sonner penaltys nearly gave Walsall the result of the day , but Pompey fought back and levelled from Nigel Quashie , Todorov out Pompey ahead on 58 , Ten minutes later Sonner struck from the spot again but Mathew Taylor struck on 76 to seal all 3 pionts for the league leaders.

Rotherham 0 Wolves 0

Both clubs played out a goalless draw in the late Sky game , Both had good chances with Alan Lee going close firing right across the goal and a whisker wide , Wolves had there chances as well , Dean Sturridge headed just over from six yards and before that Kenny Miller dragged a shot wide from the edge of the area.

Sheff Utd 2 C Palace 1

Another Late show here at Bramall Lane with Wayne Allison snatching a dramatic goal right at the end , It all started of ok for Utd when right before half time Dean Windass converted close in just before half time , Aka Rikalati equalised on 70 minutes to set up a grandstand finish but unfortunately for Palace Allison sneaked a late late goal to win it for Utd.

Watford 2 Burnley 1

Watford got back on track and kept pace with the playoff hopefuls with a deserved victory against Burnley , the Hornets goals came from Heidar Helguson and a 72nd minute Tommy Smith penalty , the only Burnley goal of the afternoon was scored by Gareth Taylor which put Burnley still six pionts away from 6th place.

Wimbledon 3 Sheff Wed 0

Sheffield Wednesday's misery keeps on going and Chris Turner the Owls boss is still looking for his first win , the Dons bossed the game from start to finish with strikes from Lionel Morgan , David Connolly and Neil Shipperley , Sheffield Wednesday had Lee Bromby sent off just after half time. Despite lack of crowds at Wimbledon these days the football is outstanding from the Dons and that victory keeps them climbing up the table.
