Madejski Could Quit!

Reading chairman John Madejski has said that he could quit the Royals if they gain promotion to the F.A. Barclaycard Premier League as his role at the club would be complete.

Madejski has been at the club for the past 13 years, and despite putting in significant funds they have yet to reach the top flight. This cash boost includes enough to build the Royals home, Madejski Stadium which holds 24,000.

However the Royals could be in place for a play-off finish this season, but they would have to beat off the likes off Nottingham Forest, Norwich City, Leicester City and quite possibly Sheffield United if there aim is Premiership status.

"There are lots of reasons that would make me walk away. It could come if I am disenchanted with the way football is going.

"I have put up with a lot in the 13 years I have been chairman and I still think football clubs should make a profit like any other business.

"It is my ambition to get into the Premier League and you could say my role would be completed if we got there.

"It would be nice to have a season as a Premiership chairman because there are lots of grounds I have not been to and it would be nice to see them," he said on the club's official website.
