Martinez Joins Swans

Roberto Martinez has finally left Walsall and joined Third Division basement boys Swansea City.

The on off move to Swansea has finally be resolved and the Walsall midfielder has finally moved from the West Midlands to South Wales on a free transfer.

Martinez failed to agree terms last week but the transfer was revived today and the situation sorted , he will go straight into a massive relegation battle like he has never faced before , in trying to make sure Swansea don't drop into oblivion towards the Nationwide Conference.

Walsall manager Colin Lee said "Roberto is an excellent professional. He is an intelligent footballer and a pleasure to work with.

"We wish him all the best at Swansea and hope that he can play a part in reviving their fortunes." Lee also added

Roberto Martinez stated "It is a challenge I am looking forward to. The fact that I will be playing first-team football was the main attraction because I have enjoyed my time at Walsall."

A safety net for Martinez has been agreed between Colin Lee and Brian Flynn , if things go pear shaped at Swansea the midfielder can return to Bescot.
