Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock has a slight concern over Peter Ndlovu for the visit of Reading. The Blades winger sustained a slight knock during the FA Cup triumph over Walsall over the weekend, but is expected to take his place in the starting line-up. Dutch midfielder Marcel Cas, who has yet to feature for the first team since signing from Notts County, has been included to the squad. Striker Dean Windass is available again after being cup-tied at the weekend.

 Reading are searching for their fourth successive win but face a tough task against a side that beat them 2-0 at the Madejski Stadium two months ago but go into the game confident after a good 2-0 away win at Millwall on Saturday. Ricky Newman is still suspended so Andy Hughes is likely to retain his place in midfield as manager Alan Pardew is set to opt for an unchanged side which means Luke Chadwick starts his third game on loan from Manchester United while Darius Henderson is set to be on the bench again despite scoring in the 2-0 win at Millwall.
