Samways Stays In Spain

Walsall's hopes of signing veteran Vinny Samways,34, have been scuppered after he re-signed for Spanish outfit Las Palmas.Samways was a free agent after being released by Sevilla.

Las Palmas,now in the Spanish second division,have confirmed the signing of Samways until the end of the season.Whilst out in Spain,Samways has become a firm fan's favourite through his tough tackling and no messing approach to the game.

Samways has been in Spain since 1996 after playing in England for Spurs and Everton whilst also spending loan spells at Walsall's neighbours Birmingham and Wolves.

This u-turn by Samways will have dealt a huge blow to Saddlers boss Colin Lee as he looks to strengthen his squad.Only a few days ago Lee made his intentions clear by signing talented midfielder Carl Robinson,himself a fellow Wolves player,on loan until the end of the season.
