Unlucky Gills striker Tommy Johnson is nearing a comeback after a troublesome calf injury.

Ex Derby and Villa striker Tommy Johnson is nearing a return to training after overcoming a troublesome calf injury, that has kept him out for the best part of the season.

Johnson picked up the injury in a pre season game against Scottish side Kilmarnock ,and has only made six starts for Gillingham this term.

A club spokesman from Gillingham said "He had a foot problem and then a calf injury, but that is clearing up and we expect him to be back in training next week."

Johnson will be hoping this is definetely go now and he can get some games under his belt and banish the injury nightmare completely.
