Coventry's miserable run continues and the playoff door is slowly closing after yet another home defeat this time 2-0 against Bradford.
0-2 Att: 12,525 Andy Gray's 12th goal of the season and a
clincher from Claus Jorgensen gave Bradford their third away win in five
attempts, as Coventry's goal drought continued despite having a good forward line
as on-loan Blackburn forward Matt Jansen and a fit-again Julian Joachim were the
players charged with bringing the Sky Blues their first goal in five matches.
Makeshift frontman Gray, with just two goals in over 100 matches before this
campaign, who looked every inch the seasoned striker as he played a one-two with
Ashley Ward before slotting home the opener for Bradford after 22 minutes. The
hosts' new strike partnership did finally manage a shot on goal but Joachim saw
his 25-yard drive plucked from beneath the crossbar by Aidan Davison. Bradford
finished the first half on top as Ward could have doubled the lead but Steve
Caldwell blocked. The Sky Blues came out in the second-half with a greater
degree of urgency and had chances to level the scoreline but Caldwell headed
over the top and Craig Pead brought a fine save from the in-form Davison.
Bradford still played well and a superb 20-yard effort from Claus Jorgensen
smacked against the woodwork but they finally got the win wrapped up when Ward
picked out Jorgensen in the Coventry area and the Dane made no mistake with a
low finish. With this defeat, Coventry are staring to lose ground on the
play-off teams and must start to score if they want to be in Cardiff come May
