The Wright Decision

Waford striker Nick Wright has taken the decision to retire from football following his long term knee injury problem.

He made his name at the Vicarage Road club when he scored a stunning overhead kick against Bolton Wanderers in the Division One play-off final to send them into the Premier League.

Since then he has had a number of knee injury's and after three operations has decided to call it a day.

He told the club's official website: "The last three years have been difficult to cope with. I've taken every possible step to try and regain full fitness.

"But it has become apparent recently that I was not going to re-establish the level of fitness needed in today's game.

I must give a massive thank you to the Watford fans. I will never forget the role they played in helping me through some difficult days."
