Magilton free to go

Ipswich Town midfielder, Jim Magilton, has been told that he can leave the club on a free transfer following relegation from the Premier League.

The experienced midfielder was told by manager, George Burley that he could leave on a free transfer

"Obviously Jim is unhappy at not being able to hold down a regular first team place. I've told the player that if a club comes in for him we'd not ask a fee to help him to get into a team and gain first team football once more"

Magilton was signed in 1998 from Sheffield Wednesday and was a key member of the team that saw Ipswich gain promtion via the play-offs 2 seasons ago. Burley reserved some thanks for the 32-year-old for his work over the past 4 years.

"Jim has been a tremendous servant to the club and was instrumental in helping us gain both Premiership and European football in past seasons".

This news comes days after Burley revealed that Matt Holland would be staying at Portman Road.
