Ipwich grab UEFA cup place

Ipswich Town gave grabbed a place in the UEFA Cup thanks to the Fair Play Award.

The Tractor Boys will join SK Sigma Olomouc of the Czech Republic to enter the qualifying round of the competition. SK Brann of Norway also won a UEFA cup spot as they won the overall Fair Play Award.

Ipswich actually came 4th in England's Fair Play League behind Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle but all 3 have qualified for the Champions League therefore the UEFA cup spot was given to Ipswich.

Ipswich will be hoping to emulate last season's European feat when they defeated Inter Milan 1-0 at Portman Road before been knocked out in the 2nd leg at the San Siro.

Ipswich were hit by a second bout of good news when striker Darren Bent signed a new 3 year deal. The England Under-19 striker was one of the few high points of last season and manager George Burley was keen to keep him at Portman Road.
